Roman's Birthday

Hi all,
Last week was Roman's birthday, and he wasn't given a proper shout out in the blogosphere. Happy Birthday Roman! We didn't get the birthday celebration we had hoped for because Roman ended up pretty sick on his birthday. We had a subdued dinner and a yummy cake from a bakery called "a Piece of Cake". It was carrot, Roman's favorite. Below are some shots in honor of my guy, the best Daddy a wife could ask for!

This I had to included. It is titled " What Dominick does in the basement when Mom isn't looking"

Halloween

I know, I know, I am very late posting Halloween pictures. The last few weeks have been full of birthday parties, a visit from Nana, and all of us getting the same cold, at different times. As you can see, the boys were a lion and a panda bear for Halloween. My mom made the costumes by hand, and she did such a beautiful job!
Here is a shot of Dom as a lion. The costume fit him perfectly. The mane was beautiful, ribbon in different shades of brown and mustard to simulate hair.
Nicholas strolling along while we trick or treated. The costume kept him cozy and warm!
We went trick or treating with our friends in the neighborhood. At one point we were a good ten kids strong. Though it wasn't his first time trick or treating, Dominick really got into it this year. Although we still had a tough time getting him to say "trick or treat". He just kept saying please. After it got dark and the big kids came out, we got together and ordered pizza and hung out in our backyard/garage. It was a fun night. I only wished I had taken better pictures. Thankfully, there were many cameras around that night, so I am confident I can get a hold of more pictures!
Cammie as Little Red Riding Hood, her parents as those kids from "Juno"
Little Kinley as a darling lady bug
Myself, Nix, Jenna and baby Mollie.
I will work on getting better pictures. Seriously, this is as good as I have right now. These pictures don't do the costumes nor the night justice.

It's All Fun and Games Until Someone Gets Hurt

Now for the Ugly from Friday. So, as the picture indicates, Dominick and Nicholas were having a blast playing together on the blankets. I took this picture, and then turned around the get the Flip to record their fun (by the way, the Flip is the COOLEST thing ever!), and in those few seconds, Dom turned Nix from his tummy onto his back, and as a result, Nix's right arm was pinned underneath him in a funny way. Then the screaming began- Nix in pain, me yelling at Dominick, questioning him about what he did. I picked Nix up immediately, and righted his arm. He continued screaming in pain, with his arm limp. I freaked out, and called Roman. I put Nix in the pack and play, and saw that he wasn't moving his right arm. I picked it up, and it fell lifeless; I compared it to the left arm ,which was waving around just fine. So, I called the doctor's office, and they had me check to make sure his shoulder was in place. Thankfully it was, but they said just to be safe I should bring him in (side note: this is how fabulous Kaiser in Georgia is- you can actually get an appointment within a half hour, and they actually want to see your child).
We rushed to Dunwoody office, and Roman met us there. Of course, by the time we got there, the screaming had stopped and Nix was moving his arm again. We saw the doctor, who did some tests, and said he was fine. He figures either something popped out and then popped back in, or it just really hurt him for awhile. It was a good thing we went, because if we hadn't, you know it would have been broken or something. The trip wasn't a total waste though; Dom, Roman and I got our flu shots. Roman took Dom to the flu shot station while the doctor checked out Nix. The story goes that the when the nurse put the needle into Dom's thigh, both she and Roman underestimated Dom's strength; he pulled that needle out before the nurse could inject the vaccine. I mean, who is he, the Hulk? Needless to say, on the second try the nurse had Roman hold Dom down so she could administer the shot.
It was bound to happen that there would be tears when Nix and Dom play together. I am glad the first time is out of the way, and no serious damage occurred. They both have such a good time, I don't want to spoil it by worrying.   Anyways, later on today, I will blog about the Halloween themed birthday party we attended yesterday. Hopefully, we will post some video from the Flip!

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good: I made a delicious pot roast in the Crock Pot from Eunice's recipe. Ken, Eunice, and Cammie came over to enjoy it with us. It has gotten cold enough to have a fire. Yay!
The Bad: It rained all day. It was cold. Therefore, we stayed inside the whole day. It doesn't make for happy children or moms.
The Ugly: See the post above.
But the day is over, and I am in my flannel pjs and am watching Life on Mars. The boys are asleep and Roman is exercising in the basement. Tomorrow, we have a birthday party to go to, and the boys will wear their Halloween costumes. To end the night, here are some pictures of my boys being cute.
Shout out to Claudia! Thank you for the pajamas. Dominick loves wearing them!

Some of you may question why in most of our pictures the kids have their pajamas on. Mornings are the only time in the week where the four of us get to spend any real time together. So most of our pictures are taken while we are still in our jammies and have funny wake up hair!

Our Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

This Sunday we took a trip to the pumpkin patch with our friends from the neighborhood. The patch is located next to Piedmont Park, and benefited a local school. We had a lot of fun, and got some great pictures.

Dom's Feeling Better and Nix Rolls Over!

Sorry I have been away this week. Despite Dominick being sick, it feels like this week was busy. Or, perhaps it was just an incredibly long week that felt busy, when it really dragged on too long! Once Dominick was well, he was back to his usual self, working around the house, or as he calls it "I do working!"
Dom giving me a big grin as he takes paper and his pencils to make measurements.
Trying to emulate Daddy!
A very serious worker!
Nicholas reached another milestone this week- he rolled over! He has only done it a few times, but I think the days of us leaving him on the bed while our backs are turned are over! Of course, this means that he will start turning over in his sleep, which brings up all new concerns. But he is such a strong boy, I am determined not to worry!
The second time he rolled over!
Now he just has to learn how what to do with that left arm!

Dom's Sick!

Poor Dominick has taken ill! He was having a fabulous time at Ken and Eunice's house (how great are the two of them, by the way- they take Dominick over to play at their house for the afternoon, and bring me double chocolate cupcakes, made from scratch!), and then all of a sudden, he became very quiet and tired. He wouldn't eat his dinner, and kept telling Noonie (what he calls Eunice) that he wanted to go home. So, Eunice calls me, and Nicholas and I came over to see Dom. He put himself in my lap, very feverish, and said his tummy was owey, and he wanted to go nigh nigh. I was carrying him home, going through their garage, and all of a sudden he throws up. The entire contents of his stomach were on me and the floor. He was so distressed, and kept asking to have a shower. I got him home and he showered forever, cooling himself off. He fell asleep immediately, and his fever seems to have gone away. I think it will be a slow week here at the Plachy house. Until there are some new adventures to write about, here is some "Classic Dominick" for you to enjoy:

Nicholas Has Found his Toes!

I hope you are having a good weekend! I wanted to post some pictures of the latest Nicholas milestone- he found his toes!
Nicholas giving Daddy a big smile!
Nicholas is very serious about reaching his toes.
Tasty!
Once again, my post is brief. Nicholas woke up at 5:15 am this morning, so this momma needs to go to bed!

Some cute pictures....

Hey there,
I have been bad about posting. There isn't really much to report. It rained all day yesterday, which we needed, but it made for a very long day. So, here are some pictures of the boys, to tie you over till I get some sleep and have something new to write about!
Dom and Nix hanging out one morning.
Nicholas having tummy time.
My boys being silly!
Nicholas is trying so hard to turn onto his tummy. He is getting very close, and gets extremely frustrated that he can't get onto his tum!
Nix just being cute.
I will have more soon. I want to post about Roman and the boys trip to a pumpkin patch last weekend. But I am tired!!  :)

I Touch my Butt!!

This is Dom's new saying. I reacted to it once, and that was enough for him to say it all the time. Not embarrassing in public at all.

Yvonne's Visit

Hi All!
Sorry I haven't posted for a few days. I was too tired on Wednesday, and Thursday night was Girl's Night Out. My friends and I went to a nearby restaurant, Atkins Park (remember, Kyle and Tiina, we went there the last time you visited, before we got you terribly sick, and Kyle had the yummy cheese grits?). Anyways, we had a lot of fun without the husband and kids, but it left me little time to blog.
Anyways, I wanted to blog about our visit from Auntie Yvonne. She came to us from Prague, via the Toronto Film Festival. She stayed for a week, and we had such a good time! She arrived from Toronto on a Friday, and that afternoon, we got into our glorious minivan, and drove down to Disneyworld! We decided at the last minute that it would be fun to see the Mouse with Auntie.
Driving in the minivan, watching Cars, of course!
We stayed at the Contemporary Resort, on the monorail line. We hadn't stayed there before, and we were really excited to try it. We were not disappointed, and it was so easy just hopping onto the monorail to get to the parks.
Dom isn't so sure about the Jungle Cruise.....
Having fun at the Magic Kingdom!
Snuggling with Nicholas!
We only stayed two nights, but we did a lot in that short time. Yvonne was such a big help, looking after the boys, being the official pacifier-put-back-in-er during the drive. Even though it was exhausting, I am so glad we went and that the boys and Yvonne got to have that experience together.
She stayed with us until the following Friday, and got to spend some quality time with the boys. We can't wait until she visits again!!!

Today was NOT a Chicos kind of day!

Hey Y'all,
So, as my title said, today was not a Chicos kind of day. Dominick did not have school due to Rosh hashanah, so he was off his schedule, I was off my schedule, and Nicholas just went along for the ride.
Nicholas looking like a 70 year old man on vacation in Florida.
We took a walk in our fabulous Phil and Ted stroller.
We spent some time with our friend Lis and her son James who live next door. Here is a picture of him and Dom from a few weeks ago. They are total buddies, and James has this awesome squeal when he sees Dom. Although he doesn't look so happy here....

We had a late lunch with Daddy at our favorite sandwich place, Star Provisions. It is always nice to have a Roman break in the day. It was great weather, and we sat outside. I was going back into the bakery to get us some cookies, when Dom looked at me, very serious, and said "Mommy, I keep my pants on", as though somehow I was going to make him take his pants off in public. I just looked at him and said "Thank you." How does one respond to that? Funny guy.

We ended the day with playgroup in Lis's yard. She and her husband Jim and a huge backyard that we have playgroup in every Tuesday, and is where our neighborhood Screen on the Green is held. It was nice hanging out with the other moms in the hood (i.e neglect our kids...).
I am glad this day is over now. Roman is bathing the kids as I write this, and then I am going over to Eunice's house to watch a movie. More tomorrow, including a blog about Auntie Yvonne's visit from Prague, and our trip to Disneyworld!! I will end with a picture of Dom talking to Tiina on the phone last night, when he was supposed to be in bed......
