Today was NOT a Chicos kind of day!

Hey Y'all,
So, as my title said, today was not a Chicos kind of day. Dominick did not have school due to Rosh hashanah, so he was off his schedule, I was off my schedule, and Nicholas just went along for the ride.
Nicholas looking like a 70 year old man on vacation in Florida.
We took a walk in our fabulous Phil and Ted stroller.
We spent some time with our friend Lis and her son James who live next door. Here is a picture of him and Dom from a few weeks ago. They are total buddies, and James has this awesome squeal when he sees Dom. Although he doesn't look so happy here....

We had a late lunch with Daddy at our favorite sandwich place, Star Provisions. It is always nice to have a Roman break in the day. It was great weather, and we sat outside. I was going back into the bakery to get us some cookies, when Dom looked at me, very serious, and said "Mommy, I keep my pants on", as though somehow I was going to make him take his pants off in public. I just looked at him and said "Thank you." How does one respond to that? Funny guy.

We ended the day with playgroup in Lis's yard. She and her husband Jim and a huge backyard that we have playgroup in every Tuesday, and is where our neighborhood Screen on the Green is held. It was nice hanging out with the other moms in the hood (i.e neglect our kids...).
I am glad this day is over now. Roman is bathing the kids as I write this, and then I am going over to Eunice's house to watch a movie. More tomorrow, including a blog about Auntie Yvonne's visit from Prague, and our trip to Disneyworld!! I will end with a picture of Dom talking to Tiina on the phone last night, when he was supposed to be in bed......

Another Monday Down....

Mondays aren't usually the best days for us, what with Dominick coming down off his Daddy-home-for-the-whole-weekend high and blaming me for his absence Monday mornings. But today went really well. We did an art project for Daddy, went on a big walk where we talked with some of our neighbors, and Marisa came over! Marisa is the Georgia Tech student who comes to watch Dom every Monday while I run some errands with Nicholas. Dom is smitten with Marisa, so her coming to play was a real treat. I am working on getting Nix on a better schedule, so I can leave him with her as well, and get some real Mommy time!
Later in the afternoon, we hung out in the cul de sac with some of my friends and their kids, or as we call it "getting through the day till Daddy comes home". We are so lucky to live in the neighborhood we live in. We have made great friends who have helped make our lives as new parents so much easier. Dominick had a great time playing with Cammie, Kinley, James and Anika, while Nix and Maya demonstrated their lung capacity as they lamented their lack of napping for the day. With their permission, I will post pics of all our friends soon, so everyone in Cali will know who we are talking about!!
Dom and Nix on the couch. Dom was all excited to take the pictures, Nix not so much.
I think you can actually see the fear in his eyes...

Nicholas in his pack and play.
I just wanted to post a picture of Dom's latest crafts from school. They are for Rosh hashanah. I am always so excited when he brings projects home!

This Weekend....

This weekend we stayed in Atlanta, ran errands, and generally tried to relax. We did get Dominick a haircut, which I am very happy about, because he was starting to look like one of the characters from Lord of the Rings.
Dominick plays a new game with Nicholas, where he takes one of Nix's toys and puts it on his head like a crown, then sings happy birthday to him.

Nicholas at Three Months

Nicholas is three months now, and is getting so big! We are going to the pediatrician on Wednesday for vaccinations, and we bet he will weigh about 14 pounds. He is smiling a lot, and attempting to laugh (which really sounds more like a gasp) and loves turning on his side. I think he would like to roll over, but I don't think he would know what to do once he got onto his tummy! We are pretty sure he is getting a bottom tooth, which is a surprise, since Dominick did not get his first tooth until seven
months.
Here's Nicholas in his favorite position, standing.

Dominick's First Day of School

In August, Dominick started preschool at The Epstein School here in Atlanta. It is a wonderful Jewish day school in Buckhead that we are completely in love with. He has absorbed so much in such a short amount of time. Not only are his teachers Ms. Joyce and Ms. Callen teaching him the basics like colors and animals, but they are helping him become a more kind and well behaved little man (like clearing the dishes after a meal). He is learning about the Jewish culture and religion, and they are beginning to teach the students Hebrew. We are so proud of our little man!

Welcome to Atlanta!

For a little while now, my friend Kelly (also known in our house as Little Kelly), has urged me to start a blog. I resisted, firmly believing this whole internet thing is just a fad, until I had a second child; running after my two "gentlemen" does not leave me time to send pictures of the them and keep family and friends up to date with their adventures. Therefore, I decided to give in and start this blog (though take note Yvonne and Eunice- I will not be joining Facebook. I don't care if everyone else on the planet joins, you won't get me!!!). I can't promise daily updates, though I will do my best! My two boys are a combination of the best of Roman and I, and I would like to share all of our ups and downs with the people we love.
Another note- this blog is titled "The Lads", which is what Roman calls Dominick and Nicholas, after the name of the dogs from "Magnum P.I" The address of the blog is the ladsofatlanta.blogspot.com, because someone took thelads.blogspot.com years ago, though did nothing with it. I don't like theladsofatlanta because it sounds like a Chippendales Club, but it was the first thing I came up with!
Enjoy!
